All About Me

My name is Manon and this is my blog. My favorite 2 activities are dancing and playing the piano. I also like swimming, hanging out with my friends, and playing tennis. My favorite color is aqua. When I grow up I want to be a cake decorator because I have been baking ever since I was just 6 months old. My grandmother started to teach me when I was very little and I have been cooking ever since. Now let's stop talking about me and start to get to this amazing blog. Hope you enjoy!

When did you learn that not everything works out the way you want it to?

I remember the time I learned that not everything works out the way you want it to. It all started when in November around Thanksgiving. All of the family was going to celebrate my grandfathers birthday. This year I decided that I wanted to make the cake. My grandfather told me that he wanted 1-2-3-4 cake and grandma Schaeffer’s special chocolate frosting. I envisioned a 2 layer cake covered with chocolate frosting and “ Happy Birthday Poppy!” in green on top.
I started out by making the 2 cakes. After I baked them, I let them cool. When they had cooled I tried and tried to take them out of the pans but were stuck to the bottom. Finally they came loose but some parts were in pieces. I put them in the fridge so that they would be ready to decorate in the morning.
The next morning I went to get the cake out of the fridge to let it warm up while I started grandma Schaeffer’s special chocolate frosting. I put a pan on the stove melted the chocolate and put in the rest of the ingredients. Next I put the 2 layers of cake together with frosting in the middle. After that I started the frosting all over the cake but it cooled so fast that almost half the cake wasn’t covered! I tried to pipe the letters in the green icing but some came out crooked and messy.
In the end the cake did not look very good but it did taste good! That’s the story of the time I learned that not everything works out the way you want it to.

This I Believe

I believe in being unique. Being yourself is the key to everything. If you want to know, it all started when I went to the doctors office. My doctor said that I should start eating more because I was too small and did not weigh enough. At this point I was already eating as much as I could. Sometimes I ate so much I felt as if I was going to explode. So right at that moment when she told me to eat even more I realized something. It does not matter if you are small or tall what matters is what is inside who YOU are. So don't try to change, just embrace being yourself, embrace being unique.

Baby Blue

This is the story of why I love Baby Blue. I remember that when I was little my grandmother came to visit all the way from Belgium. She had brought with her a little stuffed animal. He was as blue as the ocean and as white as snow with the widest smile going across his whole face. When she gave him to me I was so surprised that I danced all over. I had decided to call him Baby Blue, but since I was so little I called him Baby Booie instead.
I have kept him all these years because he always reminds me that no matter how far away the other side of my family is they will always love me for who I am. he is there every night ready for me to tell him how my day was, how I feel about it and what he missed out on. Baby Blue is the best gift I could have ever asked for because it came from a special person.
